We had a lovely stay over Christmas, the barn was kitted out to a high standard with everything we needed for a comfortable stay on a working farm. The hosts David and Julie were great, welcoming us with free range eggs and a bottle of bubbly.
We didn’t expect decent wifi based on other reviews but it was great for all 4 of us and allowed us to stream films etc
The whole place always felt warm with good central heating, hot decent sized shower , comfy big sofa and beds.
The hot tub under the clear night sky was a great experience.
Location was perfect for visit to Durham and although you felt remote, you’re still close to shops and supermarkets if needed. We also hit the Northumberland coast near lindasfarm which is well worth the trip just over an hour away .
Overall, we had a memorable Christmas break here and would highly recommend.

Beautiful, peaceful location. Hosts were so helpful and friendly. Secure area for our dog to roam about. Lots of farm animals for my daughter to see. Local walks and pubs were fab. So much on your doorstep! Would come back !

Just returned from a fabulous week at Julie and David’s place. Very peaceful location on a working farm and surrounded by beautiful countryside. Spotlessly clean and the hot tub was very welcome after a long day of sightseeing. Lots to do in the surrounding areas and some good recommendations from our hosts. Fresh eggs and cold Prosecco were a very nice touch.

Amazing cottage full off charm. Kids loved it animals Hot tub and fabulous cockerel in the morning to wake you up my daughter loved that!l and seeing the sheep and goats.

We loved our stay. We were met on arrival and shown round.
The enclosed garden was perfect for us. We have a Patterdale Terrier and usually don't trust the gardens when we go away but this was perfect and we could let him out without a lead.
We loved seeing all the animals and can imagine that older children would love waking up to see the sheep etc.
We had no WiFi issues at all.
The accommodation had everything needed to be able to make all your meals there.
While there we visited Raby Castle, High Force waterfall and the local nature reserve. Would recommend them all, however the falls you have to pay to see.

Lovely little cottage, in beautiful surroundings! Was impeccably clean. Prosecco in the fridge and fresh farm eggs were waiting for us when we arrived. Along with some friendly lambs, which the children really enjoyed. We also saw cats, dogs, a rooster, a peahen and some chickens. Julie was really welcoming, gave us clear instruction on how to find the cottage and gave us some recommendations of takeaways near by. The outside area was lovely, the hot tub and fire pit were really easy to use and a big hit with the children as well. Would highly recommend. The Wi-Fi isn’t great and we didn’t have phone signal with it being a rural location but that want a problem for us.

Completely stunning.
We visited here to attend a friend wedding nearby and I was amazed at the beauty of the area. Easily as nice as Northumbria and Yorkshire but with less people!
We will be visiting for a longer stay in the summer as there is so much to do. A hidden gem of a place. Cannot wait to be in that hot tub again looking at stars!

A lovely stay with the kids. Great base to explore Northumberland and Durham. A really clean, new barn conversion, everything was clearly new, new bedding, towels, furniture etc
Nice practical wooden floors with rugs so good for the dog. Lovely hot tub and outside seating area with fire.
Friendly peacock and lambs in paddock opposite. The children spotted the foal, Pygmy goats and horses.
Dog secure outside area (we have a whippet that can clear a fence easily but this felt very safe). The property and outside space is all self contained.

I was shocked at how much there is to do in the area.
The only thing I would say is that if you are going to the adventure park at Raby Castle, book this in advance.... a 6 week wait!
Beautiful area, cottage and the hot tub is a real bonus to enjoy once the kids are in be.... which was early as they were shattered at the end of every days adventure!

Thank you so much for a lovely stay. It was perfect for the dogs and humans to explore the local area and the walks were beautiful.
It is not very often that you can walk for 2 hours and not meet another person!
Your free range eggs were the best I have ever tasted.
Durham is a lovely city too and a hidden gem of a place.
We will definitely back again.
